MEMORIAL PROGRAM TO HONOR WEE GRANNY ON
JUNE 23, 2006
The James and Mary Murray Murdoch family
officers are planning a memorial service at the LDS Chapel in Scottsbluff on
June 23, 2006, starting at 7:30 PM. This year is the 150th year since her
death on Oct. 2, 1856 near Chimney Rock as a member of the Martin Handcart
Company. One of the special items that will be included in the program is
the dedication of a high way marker that has been placed 9 miles east of
Chimney Rock on Highway 26. The marker
honors the hand cart pioneers that passed through this area and uses the
story of Wee Granny as an example of all of them. It represents a real
tribute to her memory. All of her descendents are invited to attend.
